Privacy Notice

Last reviewed: September 2026

In short: the general starter guide remains available without providing personal details. If you request the Care Act checklist, we collect your first name and email address to send it to you, using our email service provider Brevo. We only send marketing emails if you tick the separate optional box.

Who this notice is from

Care Compass England is an independent educational information project about adult social care in England. This notice explains how the website handles data.

Checklist requests

When you request the Care Act checklist, we collect your first name and email address. We use them to send you the checklist you asked for. Our lawful basis is that you have requested this resource.

The form also has a separate, unticked box for occasional Care Compass England information and resources. We only send these if you tick it (your consent), and we record the date you agreed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by emailing us.

Your details are stored and emails are sent by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), our email service provider, which processes the data on our behalf. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Please do not enter details about your own or another person’s care situation.

What is processed when you visit

  • Standard technical information created automatically by any web request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is handled by our hosting provider to deliver the site and keep it secure and reliable.
  • Anonymous, aggregate usage statistics provided by our hosting platform's built-in analytics — for example counts of page views. These are collected server side, are not used to build a profile of you, and do not involve advertising or tracking cookies.

We rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and understanding in general terms how it is used.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If non-essential cookies are ever introduced, this notice and an appropriate cookie control will be put in place first.

How long data is kept

Technical logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and reliability purposes. Aggregate usage statistics are not linked to an identifiable person.

If this changes

If we connect checklist delivery, email subscriptions or another form of data collection, this notice will be updated before that feature is made available.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data relating to you, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. While the checklist form remains unconnected, Care Compass England does not receive the first name or email address entered there.

Complaints

You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, via ico.org.uk.
